My father's passion for playing Mahler, Beethoven and Bartok on the piano accompanied my childhood. His involvement with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra led to friendships with musicians who, after an occasional dinner in our home, would play chamber music, often with my father on piano. During the season, he took us to classical concerts, which flew by as I sketched maestros and their orchestras under the influence of evocative rhythm, harmony and mood.
My mother's passion for the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and Studio Arena Theatre brought these avenues into my life at a tender age. I never was compelled to sketch actors on stage or screen, nor did I ever sketch at the ballet as a youth. Perhaps because, although I always loved the color, energy and movement, I was graceful only when riding horses. Dancers first appeared on my supports in 2002.
